On the 1st October 2016, I spent the day filming Lincoln’s first Comic convention for an upcoming project. Linc-con was a family event open for people of all ages with entertainment including Cosplay contests, a wide range of stalls, special guests, a game station, food and drink and much more.
We all arrived at the university for 9:30 to collect our equipment ready to set up at the venue for 10am. There were two of us on cameras as well as two camera assistants. Considering this was Lincoln’s first ever comic-con, the atmosphere was so fun and it was obvious that everyone really enjoyed the event. It was also a nice touch that the weather was on our side and it’s wasn’t too cold or wet.
I spent most of the day filming interviews. The camera I used was the Sony FS100 which is one of my all-time favourite cameras to use. The most challenging part of the day was making sure to change ISO settings when moving outside from inside the venue as well as sorting out the F-stop. Although the event was small, it was fun and family friendly with cosplay competitions for children. Lots of people were willing to be interviewed for us which was a nice surprise and everyone kept saying how much they were enjoying the day. It was nice to work with people from different courses and different years as we were able to teach others as well as learn something new.
